The Art of Woven Photography
Photography transformed through touch.
Fernando Bengoechea developed a distinctive process of hand-weaving photographs together, turning a flat image into something tactile, dimensional, and unmistakably his own.
After Fernando lost his life in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Marcelo committed himself to preserving the work and the technique his brother left behind. Today, he continues that practice by hand—one strip, one image, one thread at a time.
“I accept my brother’s death, but I do not accept his art dying with him.”

At HW Home
An exhibition designed to be experienced.
Art lives differently in a home. That is why we invite guests to experience the collection inside the layered environment of our 9th + Colorado showroom—surrounded by design, conversation, and community.
Custom Commissions
Your photograph, woven into art.
Marcelo’s practice extends beyond the gallery through one-of-a-kind commissioned works. Personal photography can be transformed into an original woven piece created specifically for your home, story, or occasion.
Wedding photographs, portraits, family memories, travel, landscapes, or meaningful images passed through generations can all become the starting point. Commissions can be tailored to your preferred imagery and scale.
Visit the exhibition to learn more about the process, or explore Marcelo’s work online.
