This hammered and incised aluminum and hand carved wooden mask is from the Malinke Tribe of Mali. Uniquely similar in form to the Bamana N'tomo society mask, this mask is embellished with hammered aluminum and used in initiation rites of the young men. The horns and metal patterns symbolize mores and community values. A really unique mask, not only in technique and texture but highly stylized. Each piece is one of a kind and will vary in dimensions.
