Prokudin-Gorskii was a Russian chemist that devoted his entire career to the advancement of photography. In 1909 and with the support from his superior, he was able to develop one of the earliest processes for producing color images on film. His negatives were turned into positive glass slides which he projected through a triple lens magic lantern. From there he super imposed the three exposures to form a full color image.
